The announcement was made yesterday, January 30, by the CEOs of Tether and Lightning Labs, during their fireside chat at the inaugural Plan ₿ Forum in El Salvador.
Lightning Labs via XUSDT’s Integration into Bitcoin’s Ecosystem
In an official press release, Tether, the largest company in the crypto sector, announced the integration of USDT into the Bitcoin ecosystem, including:
- The base layer
- The Lightning Network
The integration is supported by Taproot Assets, a new Taproot-powered protocol, and is developed by Lightning Labs.
Taproot Assets will enhance Bitcoin’s functionality by enabling support for tokenized assets such as USDT, while maintaining the blockchain’s decentralized nature.
